On 8 October 2020, Muhammad Umar Farooq Salamat, then District Police Officer (DPO), Gujrat, visited Danish International Grammar School & Girls College in Dhudray Sharqi, District Gujrat, Punjab, Pakistan.

A meaningful visit in the institution’s journey

The visit brought together students, teachers, school leadership and members of the local community. The DPO attended the school programme, addressed the gathering, interacted with representatives of the institution and participated in student-recognition activities.

Faruukh Nadeem, serving as Chief Administrator, was part of the school leadership hosting the visit. By this stage, the educational initiative that began with construction in Dhudray Sharqi in 2011 and the opening of classes in 2013 had continued to grow as a local institution serving students and families in the surrounding rural community.

Remarks on the institution

During his address, Muhammad Umar Farooq Salamat spoke about the impression the institution had made beyond the immediate school community.

Before visiting, he said he had made inquiries about the school. After seeing the institution personally, he indicated that what he observed was consistent with the positive information he had already received about the quality of educational work being carried out in the area.

For an institution developed in a rural setting, these remarks carried particular significance. They reflected how sustained educational work in a small community could become visible beyond its immediate surroundings and contribute to a broader conversation about access, quality and local educational development.

The programme

The programme included an address to students and staff, interaction with the school community and ceremonial moments with representatives of the institution. A commemorative shield was presented during the visit, while students and staff participated in the wider gathering.
